My work explores the space between perception and the unconscious. I create both paintings and lightboxes, each offering a different approach to the same underlying themes—spirituality, altered states, and the space between the visible and the intangible.

Each lightbox is motion-activated, revealing hidden shadow compositions that emerge only in the presence of the viewer. The interplay of darkness and pulsating light creates a sense of fluidity, echoing how dreams dissolve the boundaries between reality, memory, and imagination. These works reflect my ongoing exploration of the unconscious, archetypal symbols, and shared human experiences, drawing inspiration from the theories of Freud, Jung, and Campbell.

Alongside them, I create paintings—often large-scale—where I use a precise, repetitive dot structure and layered transparency to evoke a meditative effect. In addition to dots, I work with other symbols, searching for a shared symbolic language drawn from the collective unconscious (Jung). In my paintings, I use a monochromatic, desaturated color palette to evoke visions and hallucinations—phenomena that only exist when we choose to immerse ourselves in them and believe. This is the point where rationality meets the other.

Both mediums allow me to explore the threshold between presence and absence, reality and illusion—inviting the viewer into a space where perception is fluid, and inner states can unfold freely.

	Oil on canvas


The images I paint balance on the border between figuration and abstraction. The works I have been focusing on
lately are landscapes of my inner experiences, emotions and
all that is so present in my life, despite the lack of visual representation. When creating the first layer of a painting, I try 
to create intuitively without any prior analysis or plan. I then
move on to a more conscious interpretation of the work by
applying successive layers of paint. In this way I connect my
subconscious and consciousness, allowing them to enter into
dialogue with each other.

A series of light boxes that light up with a motion sensor. The shadows
created in the objects are designed to give the illusion
of animation. They are in between animated and not
animated. The vibrating light of the light boxes sets
them in motion.

	Vangel&#38;nbsp;


Occurring somewhere between dreams, memory, and delusion, “Vangel” is a short
film by the collaborative duo of Polish visual artist Agnieszka Rowińska and Filipino
filmmaker Aaron Palabyab about remembering something from before your time, and
attempting to understand the source and meaning of these shadows from the past.
Taking place in the abandoned Bazen Saraj swimming pool in Skopje, Macedonia, a place
of unsettling energy where the filmmakers even experienced a threat to their persons
during production, the film uses present-day footage from the site alongside found
personal footage from its heyday exactly 33 years ago.

Documentation of „Archivio,” an installation by Polish artist Agnieszka
Rowińska and Filipino filmmaker Aaron Palabyab, completed at the
33 Officina Creativa (33OC) Residency in Toffia, Italy. Assembled by the
artists from scratch using only readily available materials, this is a
prototype for future installations based on this concept.
The installation takes inspiration from the small
medieval town of Toffia, Italy, and the strong sense of the presence of
the past within its walls.
A large translucent oil painting was created and assembled by Agnieszka
from several sheets. She then
individually drew and cut around 500 human figures,
corresponding to the number of people buried in the town’s old
cemetery, which were then hung in a web of string behind the painting.
Then a time-lapse film of Toffia, shot by Aaron over one month, was
projected onto the back of the painting and through the figures. The
projector was placed on an automated camera slider in order to create a
parallax effect with the shadows, with the result that it becomes difficult
to determine where they exist in space.
