I create oil paintings with a muted palette alongside interactive lightboxes that respond to the viewer's presence. My paintings are built slowly, layer by layer, creating a space for contemplation and quiet attention. Across both media, I develop a personal visual language that moves between figuration and abstraction. Although they employ different means of expression, both explore the same question: is it possible to experience spirituality beyond the boundaries of religion, and how can we live with the awareness of our own mortality?
My paintings evolve slowly, often over the course of many months. Built from transparent layers of oil paint, they emerge through repetitive gestures that allow me to enter a state of focus and stillness. During this process, symbols appear intuitively and gradually form a personal visual language. Some resonate with Christian iconography, archetypes, or Carl Gustav Jung's concept of the collective unconscious. I do not use them to illustrate existing theories, but rather as tools for searching for a universal language of images.
Alongside painting, I create interactive lightboxes that reveal hidden imagery only when activated by the viewer's presence. Light becomes a medium through which what was previously invisible is brought into view. In recent years, I have increasingly incorporated willow wicker into these works, combining traditional basketry with electronics and light. I am interested in how contemporary technology can coexist with materials deeply rooted in craft traditions and cultural memory.
Although my paintings and lightboxes employ different visual languages, I see them as two parallel paths leading toward the same destination. Through my practice, I seek to create works that open a space for experiencing spirituality in the shadow of impermanence.
